If your training is not evolving to fit where you are at this exact moment, then it’s time for a re-evaluation of the situation.
Our bodies are in a constant state of change. You are either accelerating the aging process or slowing it. Fortunately, I have always known this from early on and have become even more aware of it as I age. The past two years for me has been a process of restructuring my diet and workouts as I adjust to a body that is not as young as it once was. If you are 35 and above, feeling slower, or dealing with pre-menopause or menopause, listen up.
There is a difference between a young body and a healthy body. Physical and mental declines are not inevitable. There are hormonal drops and muscle sarcopenia, as well as cognitive and equilibrium declines to name a few. Did you know 70% of falls in older adults leads to declines in mobility, strength, cognitive function, and even death? The last thing you want to do is fall. That goes for any age group. I took a good fall when I was 30 weeks pregnant with my daughter. Because I was in shape with all of my training, I landed gracefully. Balance training even while I was pregnant helped me with that icy, slippery fall.
